ABOUT THE COMIC
Welcome to Memphis, Tennessee, 1979.
The Mid-South Coliseum is sold out, the air crackles with electricity, and the line between sport and spectacle has vanished.
This is the world of MEMPHIS, an explosive new comic saga inspired by the golden age of territory wrestling. This is the story as it felt for the fans who packed arenas and tuned in every Saturday morning to witness it.
At its heart is Jerry “The King” Lawler and Jimmy Hart, a charismatic artist turned wrestler and a dauntless musician turned manager whose legendary partnership would rock the sport to its core. Through their eyes, we relive the drama, the laughs, the blood, and the glory of classic Memphis wrestling.
And calling the action are Lance Russell and Dave Brown, our chorus of the gods, narrating this over-the-top fictionalized biopic with muscle, heart, and a musical soul.
Rendered with the kinetic fury of an anime fight scene fused with the larger-than-life grandeur of a superhero epic, MEMPHIS is bold, colorful, and gloriously unrestrained. It’s a story of the family you choose, the battles you can’t avoid, and a kingdom forged in the firey crucible of the squared circle. Whether you’re a lifelong fan or visiting the territory for the first time, this will be a legend you’ll never forget.
Time to step into the ring!
ABOUT THE AUTHORS
Kevin & Sammi Bolk are a husband-and-wife creative team. Their collaboration on Memphis: Monday Night Memories is Kevin’s first new comic project in over a decade.
Kevin Bolk has spent most of his adult life as a freelance artist and designer, best known for the parody webcomics It Sucks to Be Weegie and the Ensign Sue trilogy. His illustration and design work has appeared with Marvel Comics, Nickelodeon, Udon Entertainment, Oxford University Press, and much more. In recent years, he’s pivoted into professional wrestling, designing merchandise and toys for independent wrestlers, promotions, and legends of the ring.
Sammi Bolk is an independent artist, writer, voice actress, and social-media specialist. She started as Kevin’s assistant and over time, their partnership and close friendship grew into romance. They married in 2024. She’s also the founder of the GREATEST Jimmy Hart Fan Club as well as an avid wrestling and music historian/researcher.
Their shared passion for comics, music, and professional wrestling (along with their friendship with the real-life Jimmy Hart) inspired them to create Memphis as a love letter to a territory they feel has been woefully underappreciated: a promotion packed with unforgettable stars and visionary bookers whose influence still echoes through the industry today.
